Summary
One of a set of five stinkwood dining chairs, South African, circa 1800. Including one armchair, each with rectangular back and vertical bar splats below a pedimented toprail, the leather seat covering original cane work and standing on square tapering legs joined by H-stretchers, the armchair with open arms and wide seat. Photographed in situ at Stonehouse, Parktown, Johannesburg, the family home that Sir Herbert Baker designed and lived in.
