Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)

NB the lines in Indian ink of the front of the console / & those in Chalk the Profile Wall line Sir / ... the Favour of yours yesterday, I have only time to say, that this is the proportion of the Console if the Present Pedestal to the Bust.. / remains which would have been sent sooner, but I waited to remonstrate to Mr Windham, that by taking away those pedestals & substututing others / .. much handsomer in their Room would reduce the Expense. & / I am / Sir (?) / Your H'ble Servant James Paine To / Mr John Frary / at / Felbrigg Hall / near / Cromer / Norfolk [two stamp marks] 19 MR 8 N 8 1 N 4 [fleur-de-lis, shield, crown] LVG IV On folder: James Paine.
