Summary
An architectural drawing. 'William Samwell: Second design for the alteration to the house, 1674.' This second design shows the layout of the house, basically existing until now. The new west wing is now two rooms deep, containing Drawing and Dining Room, a Bedchamber, Closet and Parlour. The main staircase didn't change its location right after the Great Hall. The eastern part contains domestic rooms on a 'Passage to the Offices', which probably gave access to a seperate service wing. Pen and brown ink, some brown wash. Various measurements and annotations. Some pencil scribbles. Glued on cardboard.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
