Summary
Engraving and etching on laid India paper. The Haymakers by William Elliot (Hampton Court 1727 - 1766) . Two figures eith a scythe and rake converse in the foreground next to sheep. Rocks and trees behind with a small waterfall and a village in the distance. Inscribed 'From the original picture by Mr Geo Smith'. With verse Thompson's Summer. Geo Smith pinx, Wm Elliott sculpt. Black frame, gilt slip, mounted and glazed.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
