Oil painting on canvas, Mary Queen of Scots returning to Scotland from France passing the Cliffs of Dover, British (English) School, 19th century. Six full-length figures on boad a ship with the white cliffs of Dover seen on the distant horizon. The Queen, seated in white attended by two ladies-in-waiting, on either side, a cardinal seated to the right, a courtier on the far right leading on the main mast and David Rizzio on the far left with a lute.
