Summary
A pastel picture on paper of "Rake": A White and Tan Spaniel by Henry Bernard Chalon (London 1771 – London 1849). It shows the right profile of a white and tan spaniel. It is signed and dated 'H.B. Chalon 1796' at the bottom and is inscribed on the back 'Uncle Doughty's Rake. He was offered £50 for him'. It is in a gilt frame, glazed with a black and gilt border applied to the glass.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
