A marble chimneypiece of architectural form by Thomas Carter the Elder (d.1756) with central pediment, the centre of the Siena marble frieze carved in high relief with the Wolf suckling Romulus and Remus, the sides carved with terminal busts of classical worthies (Homer on the right), the pediment supports inset with veined red marble plaques, the inset steel wrought iron fireplace inscribed 'Roberts. 66 Oxford Street'. (NT/UPP/SC/6a is companion chimney piece.) C. 1750.
