Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Benjamin Lethieullier (1729-1797), manner of Pompeo Girolamo Batoni (Lucca 1708 – Rome 1787), circa 1751-2. Oval. Head-and-shoulders portrait of a man, facing to the right, in a fur-bordered blue coat and frilled lace cravat, with curled, light-brown hair. This miniature is taken from Pompeo Batoni's oil portrait of Benjamin Lethieullier at Uppark and simply changes the colour of his coat from red to blue.

the (uncatalogued) collection of Frederick Joachim (1904–1994), no.595; his posthumous sale (Christie’s, London, 14 October 1998, lot 147, as: “Manner of Pompeo Batoni, circa 1760/1770: A Boy, believed to be Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh (d.1774)”; Christie’s, South Kensington, 9 March 1999, lot 99, as the same; bought by the National Trust for Uppark.
