Summary
Pastel on paper, Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh, 1st Bt, MP (1714 to 1774) by William Hoare of Bath, RA (Eye 1707 – Bath 1792), 1753. A half-length portrait, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, wearing a blue coat and white satin waistcoat, both embroidered with gold. Sir Matthew visited Bath in 1753, when this and the companion painting of Sarah Lethieullier, Lady Fetherstonhaugh were probably painted. Carved gilt frame.
