Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Admiral the Hon Sir Herbert Meade-Fetherstonhaugh, KCVO, CB, DSO (1875-1964) by Graham Rust (fl.19th century), signed and dated O. Birley 1940. A half-length portrait, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, in naval uniform. Presented by Mr John Meade, the Admiral's second son, who owns the original. The third son of Admiral of the Fleet 4th Earl of Clanwilliam and like him a distinguished seaman, commanding the light cruiser 'Royalist' at the Battle of Jutland in 1916. Took the name and arms of Fetherstonhaugh on succeeding to Uppark in 1931.
