Summary
A Regence bracket clock, on stand veneered in Boullework with a marquetry of tortoiseshell and cut brass elaborately mounted in ormolu cast and chased, surmounted by figure of Athene; Apollo driving his horse-drawn chariot, caryatids, urns, a dancing Cupid and rearing horses below; the circular dial with enamelled numerals and strike and silent movements, the movement inscribed, 'Thwaites and Reed, Clerkenwell, London'. This firm, founded in 1817, still exists and the movement of this clock was altered during the early 19th Century.
