Summary
A giltwood pier table or "console", English rococo, circa 1750, the later serpentine marble top above a frieze elaborately pierced and carved with wave ornament, scrolls, sprays of flowers and centred by a pierced shell-shaped cartouche, on scroll legs joined by a serpentine stretcher centred by a winged dragon's head emerging from a carved pierced shell, possibly en suite with a mirror destroyed by the fire in 1989 and replaced by a copy.

By descent; given to the National Trust in 1954 with the house and some of its contents by Admiral the Hon. Sir Herbert Meade-Fetherstonhaugh.
