Summary
Underdress - Brown silk crepe de chine, bordered with embroidered fabric as overdress, at top edge. Part of an evening dress. Straps of plain muslin/voile. Front panel and deep border at hem made of unembroidered muslin. The underdress is made from four pieces of silk, with the central muslin panel stitched to bodice by hand, hem border machine-stitched. Hems hand rolled. Large ornament applied to central panel at hip level; gold metallic thread motif mounted on green rayon fringe. These show beneath the overdress at CF split when worn. Seams machined, but garments are hand-finished.
