Summary
Overdress of drab coloured plain-weave muslin or voile fabric possibly rayon fibres. Part of an evening dress. The dress is cut 'en garconne' with a low waist. Made from three pieces. Sleeveless. Back is constructed from one piece of fabric. Bodice and skirts also cut from one piece, shaped with high curved neckline. Two skirt panels at front created by splitting CF waist to hem, with dart above opening on right side. The fabric is decorated with an all-over embroidered pattern in gold metal thread and bright green floss rayon. Metal thread is tamboured in a geometric lozenge design, with floral motifs in floss and metal thread scattered at intervals. CF bodice and skirt panels bordered with metal thread embroidery in vernicular design, with simple tamboured flower shapes in green thread. Gold metal thread girdle with cone tassels at waist, stitched to side seams.
