Summary
Afternoon or reception dress for semi-formal occasions with matching coatee. Foundation of coffee coloured crepe de chine made in four pieces. Narrow rouleaux straps of same material. Flounce at hem. Overlaid with dress of cream silk machine lace. Sleeveless with shallow rounded neckline and armholes hand rolled and stitched. Full length skirt cut in four main panels, flaring out to hemline. Large flounce stitched to skirt back and front forming 'V' shape. Shelf fabric belt at waist of double lace, reinforced with top stitching (seven rows) fastens with silver metal (aluminium?) clasp buckle set with paste stones. Belts is tacked to dress at one side and a metal press-stud on the other. Main seams are machine sewn, hand finished.
