Summary
Day bodice or jacket of navy blue wool; stand-up collar, centre front opening fastened by eighteen enamelled buttons (one replacement) centre front panels smocked and pleated; false revers of applique bands embroidered in blues, pinks and gold; pointed back waist, leg-'o'-mutton sleeves; collar and cuffs trimmed with blue ric-rac braid; pleated muslin frill to collar, twilled lining with steel bones. Alterations; most darts and seams let out including centre back, probably for theatrical use; name J.E.Hawmen written on lining. 1890 - 1893 (circa)
