Baby's first shirt of fine linen the fronts goffered with plant design on 'sprigged' ground (impression carried through to back), the front edges pleated; hollie point insertions to shoulders; the sleeves crimped, with underarm gussets and silk ribbon ties to cuffs. 1732 (circa)

given to Margaret Bodley by Marion Felix who was given them by a member of the North family. probably made for Frederick (1732-1792), Lord North (later 2nd Earl of Guildford) who was Prime Minister 1770-1782.
