Summary
Plum (unusual colour) silk quilted petticoat, quilted onto glazed wool lining with inter-lining of natural coloured wool. Skirt pleated to 3/4 in wide tape waistband, tieing centre back. Two pocket slits, bound in red tape, as hemline. Quilting is of diamond pattern, with designs within semi-circles at hem. Skirt has been shortened and waist made smaller. Three glazed cotton patches sewn inside skirt. This example is unusual in that it retains, as far as one can tell, it's original waist tape and therefore presumably pleating arrangement. 1750 (circa)
