Summary
Bronze medallion, Prince Henry Benedict Stuart, Cardinal York (1725–1807). Set in a brass cross. This is the obverse of a bronze medal of Prince Henry, Cardinal York, the younger brother of Prince Charles Edward Stewart. It was issued in 1788 to assert Henry's right to the throne after Charles's death.Although he called himself Henry IX (Henricus Rex), he made no attempt to claim the crown, recognising that hopes of a Stuart restoration had finally faded.
