Summary
Mid 19th century rectangular needlework box, slightly sarcophagus-shaped on flat feet of light coloured wood (tulipwood ?) banded with rosewood with blue velvet pincushion plus 6 glass pins inside lid with envelope behind. Fitted wooden compartments, lower drawer with rod. Contents of needlework box as follows; 4 m-o-p reels with bone shanks, 3 concave rectangular m-o-p winders, m-o-p tape measure, ivory tatting shuttle, pincushion disc with beaded decoration, silver stirrup-shaped thread reel on clip and chain. Birmingham 1899. Lower drawer with writing slope, containing ivory pen and scribe for tambouring, acorn-shaped roeswood thimblecase with silver thimble, turned ivory tambour hook case, steel scissors, two m-o-p buttons and one enamelled metal button. Owners name marked inside compartment lid; Ethel A.Reeve. 1830 - 1870
