Summary
A satinwood, rosewood and harewood bonheur du jour, or writing desk, English, circa 1785 and later. The raised back fitted with a pair of cupboards, each enclosing short drawers lined with oak and blue paper. The doors and sides inlaid with oval patera. The base fitted with one long drawer, inlaid with fluting and fitted with later handles. The tapering square-section legs crossbanded with rosewood.
