Summary
A walnut and marquetry chair, Dutch, circa 1725-50, one of a set of six. The back topped by a carved shell above a shaped, solid splat inlaid with a vase issuing flowers and leaves in various woods, stained woods and ivory. The drop-in seat in conforming marquetry rails and raised to the front on a pair of cabriole legs carved to the knees and with paw feet, and to the rear on outswept legs, all joined by a wavy H-shaped stretcher.

Purchased by National Trust in 1992 through private treaty sale with NHMF aid
