Summary
Hood; Calash - Made from sable brown glazed cotton and lined with pink glazed cotton. There are 7 cane hoops. It is organ pleated in a ring centre back with a self covered card button and a short lined curtain. It fastens with a brown silk ribbon draw tie at the neck. There is a wider brown ribbon loop attached to the top of th front edge for holding the clash extended. There is a handwritten label 'Calash (C. 1805) worn by Mrs J W Lavender of Evesham. v. Dresden House pamphlet - and Ashton. Dawn of 19th cent. facing p. 275). (female)
