Summary
Waistcoat made from cream silk taffeta with a cotton twill back and cream silk twill base to the lining of the foreparts and cream cotton tabby foreparts. It is embroidered with small fan-shaped flowers and leaves down the foreparts and along the hem, on and below the pocket flaps with lines of silver thread and lines of sequins and small sprigs with sequins. There are silk covered embroidered buttons. The cut and style are 1770-1780 but the buckle on the back is odd. Cunnington remarks no buckle has been known on a waistcoat earlier than 1844. The buckle is in the style of 1848. (male)
