Summary
Dress petticoat - Made of silk brocade, sky grey with cream ribbed stripes and curvng 'lace' patterns in cream and sprays of flowers in pinks, red, purple and green. 22 inches (550 mm ) wide. Other fabrics used in the back. No lining. Fabric pleated onto a narrow linen tape waistband; knife pleats pointing backwards from a centre panel of 4 inches (100 mm) with a drawstring through all or part of the waistband. There is an 11 inch (275 mm) opening at the centre back, and 2 slits 3.5 inches (87 mm) either side of the centre-front. There is no lining, but the bottom 9 inches (225 mm) is faced with linen. The back is pieced together from a variety of brocades and the top part is of linen. Fastened with drawstring at centre back.
