Summary
Dress petticoat - Made of stone white silk satin 450 mm (17 in) wide. Quilted in matching silk thread. Lined with matching glazed wool. Interlining fleece. Cut in 6 panels. Hem faced matching silk ribbon. Pleated into a coarse cotton waistband 37 mm (1.5 in) deep, the knife pleats facing centre-back from either side of 150 mm (6 in) straight area at centre-front. Side slits faced with narrow ribbon. Quilted in a pattern of double scallops with small lozenges, the border 350 mm (14 in) deep of a double zigzag line in a wide wave pattern, with stylized flowers and leaves on either side. Fastened with tapes at sides. Lengthened by 100 mm (4 in) at top; both fabric and lining used differ from originals. (dress)
