Summary
Dress petticoat - Made of sky grey silk satin, 457 mm (18 in) wide. Purple striped selvedge. Hem faced with satin ribbon. Quilted with fine silk thread. Lined with stone colour glazed wool, interlined with white fleece. Cut with 7 widths of fabric. Cotton waistband 100 mm (4 in) deep, horseshoe shaped, pointed at centre-front, self faced. Knife pleats all round, facing front (shallow at front, deeper towards the back). Quilted in wave pattern, decorated with 4-petal flowers; border 280 mm (11 in) deep, of feather pattern and flowers. Fastened with tapes at centre back. An opening at centre front is now sew up. 'Kate Weale' written in ink on back of waistband. (dress)
