Summary
Court coat - Made of striped silk; green ribbed stripe alternated with Cambridge blue satin stripe. Lined with cream silk twill. Interlining of coarse, black linen. Original lining covered by a new lining of silk satin. Curved front line. Deep stand collar. Pockets with 'v' opening and deep scalloped flaps. Tapering back. Decorated, edge to edge centre fold. Triple fold shaped with close, round cuffs. Embroidered with silk threads in blue, cream, black and yellow, in a border design of flowers and leaves. Matching embroidered buttons. 10 centre front from neck to below waist. 3 on each cuff. 3 on each pocket. 2 hip buttons. 1 at hem of side ventre. 3 cut buttonholes on chest. Cuff has been lengthened. New lining. Label 'Mrs Wade Yoxford. Court coat, formerly belonging to Capt. De Geyt,. Capt. De Geyt fought at the Battle of Minden 1759. Born 1733, died 1827. Line drawing with inventory card. (male)
