Summary
Waistcoat - Male coat made from pink/green shot silk taffeta. Fully lined in cream silk. Fronts, backs and sleeves all silk taffeta. Front line curves away from chest. Point extends at side to overlap side vent. No collar. Deep scalloped pocket flaps. 'V' shaped pocket opening. Back same length as front. Edge-to-edge centre vent. Long shaped sleeves. Wrist opening in seam, buttoned. Domed wooden buttons, self-covered. 10 centre front, with buttonholes partly cut. 1 on each cuff with buttonhole. Has been shortened as coat. Evidence of wide darts across chest to shorten front- now removed. Back has been widened with an insertion of same fabric. Part of inside sleeve cut away and patched. Joan Kendall says this is possibly Quaker. Line drawing attached to inventory card. (male)
