Summary
Jacket - Silk brocade jacket with large motifs of bunches of flowers in pink, brown and green on an ivory damasked background with meandering lace pattern. It is lined with coarse bleached linen. The fitted bodice has a wide square cut neckline. There is a tapering 'stomacher' and tabs. The back is in two sections and there is a short skirt of shaped tabs. The sleeves are set in, full at the head and curved to below the elbow. The edges are bound in pink silk ribbon which also trims the tabs. Different silk ribbon fragment at neck edge. There are hooks and eyes centre front. Made from French fabric 1760-1770. Made in nineteenth century probably as fancy dress. (female)
