Summary
Dress; Open robe - Primrose silk with damasked design of trailing stems and sprays of flowers with areas of diagonal stripes. 2 dark blue stripes on selvedge. Bodice and sleeves lined with bleached linen. Remains of cream glazed wool in skirt waist. Bodice fitted, closed to below waist centre front. Scoop neck. Side back seams, centre back section cut in one with skirt. Centre back seam with 2 narrow sew pleats either side tapering to waist. Pieced. Sleeve small pleats at top, straight, narrow, cut at angle at elbow. Skirt 5 widths closely pleated to bodice, pleats stem stitched inside. 2 pocket slits. Neck trimmed with double row of cream silk fringe braid (missing from cuff). Bodice front has been pinned. Bodice shows evidence of much alteration - possibly from sack. (female)
