Summary
One of two elbow cuffs - Part of a plum coloured shot silk taffeta dress. Flame coloured weft, sapphire coloured warp, self-coloured slevedge. Bodice and sleeves lined with unbleached linen. Bodice closed front, pointed waist at centre front and centre back. Centre back seam with 2 bones. Very narrow pleating either side, sew down to waist, then continuing into skirt. Side back seams. Sleeves set in with 3 darts at head. Straight and narrow, elbow shaping with 3 darts. Skirt 5 widths, cut in one with centre back section. The rest cartridge pleated onto bodice. 2 pocket slits. Strings and hoops for polonaise style. Cuff edges bound with white silk ribbon. No fastenings. Sleeves have been reset. Bodice front pieces have been extended. Pair of ruched matching elbow cuffs. Narrow strip trimmed, pleated self fabric for centre front opening. (female) Wade Catalogue number E.7. "Dress of silk, shot plum coloured.
