Summary
Dress; Open robe - Cedar green silk taffeta. Bodice and sleeves lined with unbleached linen of different weights. Bodice closed front, centre back seam with 2 bones and 2 pleats each side, sewn down to shaped waist, continuing into skirt. Side back seams. Sleeves narrow and straight to darts at head. Skirt 5 widths, cut in one with centre back bodice. Knife pleated onto rest of bodice. 2 pocket slits, 2 pairs tapes waist - skirt, for polonaise. Slightly longer at back. Cuffs and skirt opening trimmed narrow white silk ribbon. Trimming missing from neck edge. Fasted with 2 metal hooks and eyes centre front bodice. Eivdence of pinning. The centre front panels are pieced and may have been added later to achieve the closed bodice style of the 1770s. Some laterations visible at centre back pleating and hem, and sleeves reset.
