Summary
Dress; Open robe - Dress in cream mirrored watered silk. Bodice and sleeves lined with bleached linen. Bodice closed front, low neck with drawstring. Back fitted with 5 seams and 4 bones. Bodice separate from skirt, pointed at waist centre back and centre front. Sleeves narrow, angled t elbow with small, shaped cuff. Skirt 8 widths. Quite full - pleated all round onto bodice. Pleats towards centre back. 2 pocket slits. Longer at back. Trimming in evidence around hem, down bodice and skirt front, now missing. Drawstring at neck. Evidence of pinning on bodice front. Skirt appears to have been lengthened some 5 in from the top. Present pleating at waist not original. Bodice back has been altered. Rough darts in front bodice. Label inside bodice 'Armstrong'.
