Summary
Dress; Open robe - Striped shell pink/cream/grey silk taffeta. Bodice and sleeves lined unbleached linen. Bodice fitted, front folded into short robings. Dart and tuck for shaping from shoulder. Basque. Back pleats sewn down, narrow at waist, continuing into skirt. Sleeves narrow, elbow length. Stripes horizontal. Double fan shaped frill, single deep flounced of tamboured cotton net. Skirt cut in one with bodice centre back - the rest stitched to bodice, pleats all round running towards sides. 2 pocket slits. Trimmed with pinked and pleated self fabric on robings. Evidence of pinning on centre front. 19th century addition of elastic. Hem has been altered. Sleeve flounces a later addition. Line drawing with inventory card. (female)
