Summary
Dress; Open robe - Made of gold silk damask with open design of flower sprays. Fabric is dated circa 1742 to 1744. 510 mm (20 in) wide with self-coloured selvedge. The bodice and sleeves are lined with linen. The dress is cut bodice en foureau. Robings. Narrow sleeves shaped round elbows. There are no trimmings. Fastened with 7 pairs of eyelets in lining extension beneath robings for lacing. Elbow piece has been added to shorter sleeve. Many alterations. Possibly originally a sack.
