Summary
One of a pair of early squash racquets in light coloured wood, handle has insets of ebony with decoration of ivy leaves in bone in the handle and a shamrock at the throat. Head much smaller than modern ones. Strings in very poor condition. This one has a stained indent towards the end of its handle. In notebook no.5, page 56 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seventh Heaven no.200 4 "Squash" Rackets 1863 P.A.Wade'. [Paget Augustus Wade, Charles’ father]
