Summary
Carriage; Child's cart, 1799. The body slung on early springs. Upholstered in buff cloth with leather apron lined with white woollen material. Painted canary yellow. Wooden chassis painted dull yellow with black lining. Wooden wheels, same colours as chassis, with metal tyres Pulling shaft missing. Originally from Herefordshire. In notebook no.5, page 89 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Large Garret Item Number 38. A Child's Curricle. 1799. A fine example of coach work with curved panels. The body is slung by straps to the early form of spring which was the forerunner of the ‘C’ spring. Upholstered in Buff coloured cloth, with leather apron. It is all painted Canary Yellow lined with black. fr. Herefordshire'. Sketch included.
