Summary
Pair of large dividers. Brass and fruitwood, steel points with brass sheaths. The brass arc is calibrated from 6 inches to 48 inches. Screwed holder on arc. Tapered oak case and sliding lid missing 2010. No maker's mark mid 18th century. In notebook no.2, page 8 (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 21. Very large pair of dividers made of apple wood with Brass mounts. Steel points with brass sheaths of same design as the fine brass dividers of the 18th cent. There is an oak case for the dividers'. Includes sketch with dimensions.
