Summary
Pocket sundial by Charles Bloud. Ivory with silver dial, hinged. Inscribed, 'Fait Et Inven par Charles Bloud Dieppe'. Also called a Bloud Dial or Diptych Dieppe Dial. French 1670-1680 with a perpetual calendar, polar dial on top, lunar volvelle. Compass needle missing. In notebook no.2, page ? (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 248. Pocket Sundial by Charles Bloud. Dieppe Fecit et invn. In an engraved Ivory Case. Dial on the lid. On the back is a silver revolving dial with calendar square. Inside is a silver dial showing phases of the moon. In the Base is a well for the compass. 17 cent'. Includes sketch with dimensions. In Account book SNO.MISC.972 Mr Wade refers to a 'Old Pocket sun dial (French)' that he acquired on the 12th September 1908. There is a reference to PA? (page 6)
