Summary
Black and white, head and shoulders portrait photograph on a postcard of an actor, dressed in a shabby coat and top hat with cut brim. Printed below, "Mr. H. B. Irving as 'Duboscq' in 'The Lyons Mail'"; '1114Q Rotary Photo E.C.' and 'Foulsham & Banfield'. On reverse, printed 'Rotary Photographic Series'. H.B. Irving was the son of Sir Henry Irving. "The Lyons Mail" was a play written by Charles Reade in 1854 and originally called "The Courier of Lyons". It was rewritten in 1877 for Sir Henry Irving and revived by his son after Sir Henry's death. This photograph is either from the performance at the opening of the Kings Theatre, Southsea, 30th September 1907, or from the 1916 silent film. (Same as 1337192).
