Summary
Dulcimer, Battaglia (Antonio - ), Milan, c. 1770. Twenty-five sets of strings, arranged in 3 and 4. Compass 2 1/4 octaves. Two bridges. Paper strips indicate the notes obtained by placing the bridges over them. Labelled on back 'ANTON BATTALIA FECE NEL ANNO 1770 NELLA STRETTA DEL MAGNANO DIRIMPETTO A SANTA MARIA SECRETA VICINIO AL CORDUSION IN MILANO'. Stamped on the body twice is '1879'. This dulcimer was previously associated with the inventory number SNO.MSS.667.
