Summary
Serpent, anon, English, late 18th century. Wood covered in mottled, brown leather, tooled in parts. Brass mounts, three brass keys. A fourth key has been removed and the hole filled. Ivory rims to the six finger holes. Wooden mouthpiece and bell. In notebook no.4, page 6 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Music Room 45. Serpent brown leather 3 keys, late 18th Cent.'
