Summary
Horse bell - Nine spherical bells. 'Nine old horse bells with initials of Wiltshire makers - RW - R Wells, Aldbourne, Nr Marlborough'. Some of the bells have other markings -'IS' 'GW'. CPW Item 546 (illustrates marking) Chris Pickford, Nov. 2009 - Crotals or rumblers. A mixed bag, probably assembled from various sources. Mostly marked RW and by Robert Wells but one by IS (John Stares of Aldbourne fl.1744-1746) and another by “GW” (most likely a reversal or mis-recording of the initials William Gwynn b.1749-d.1813).
