Summary
Thirty hour, English hoop and spike wall clock in an oak case, with alarm, by Thomas Barker, Framlingham, c1785. Two train, posted frame construction movement with anchor escapement, long pendulum, locking plate hour striking on bell and alarm mechanism. White painted break arch dial with gilt gesso spandrels and painted floral decoration in dial. Roman numerals and Arabic five minutes with single steel hour hand. Numbered brass alarm setting disc in dial centre. Brass strip below dial engraved: "Thos Barker, Framlingham". Plain oak hooded wall clock case with break arch hood and apron below back. The alarm weights are later replacements and the painted dial was actually designed for a two handed clock.
