Summary
A large painted pine chest, Scandinavian, circa 1785. with domed lid, dark green overall, the front highlighted with two red and cream cartouches, one with initials MMP, the other dated 1785, the inside of the chest painted red. CPW Item 35 Illustrated (Small Bed Room) - 'Large Coffer with high curved lid painted dark green with crude designs in red and white on front and key escutcheon.'

Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
