Summary
A walnut, tortoiseshell and ivory vargueno, Spanish, circa 1680. With an arrangement of eleven drawers decorated with foliate scrolls in tortoiseshell around a central upper deep drawer with ivory front depicting the Virgin Mary in penwork and with cupboard doors to the bottom corners again with ivory fronts depicting in penwork St Peter and St James respectively, all enclosed by a walnut fall-front mounted with an elaborate pierced steel lock-plate and two locking bolts, all on velvet, with side carrying handles.
