Summary
One of a near pair of Chinoiserie decorated bowfront hanging corner cupboards, English, circa 1800. Each painted in black and red to simulate tortoiseshell and depicting figures, some on horse-back and/or buildings, some in landscapes, each with three shelves enclosed by a pair of doors with pierced brass butterfly hinges, some differences in the detail. In notebook no.4, page 31 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seraphim 20. A similar corner cupd'. (to 1331958.1).

Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
