Summary
A buttoned leather and mahogany canopied Hall porter's chair, English, circa 1770. In studded red leather, the armrests with rosette detail and faced with fluted uprights, the round rosette detail at the top, centred by an oval rosette. The box seat has cupboard with two doors and a brass bolt inside left, each on two hinges under. All on brass wheels. In notebook no.1, page ? (1340945.1) Charles Wade refers to: 'Meridian 36. Hall Porter’s Chair covered with Red leather, brass studs, moulded mahogany arm facings and carved paterae ornament, cupbd. with mahogany doors under the seat.' Includes sketch with dimensions.

Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
