Summary
Steel Indo-Persian helmet, with chased lozenge top and leaf shaped design on the crown decorated with gold. Islamic text around the base of the helmet. Three plume holders, one with a plume of black feathers in a wood and wire basket bound with gold wire. Sliding nose guard with shaped finial to each end and screw to hold it. Spike finial to helmet. fine linked chain mail in steel and brass. Green cord hangs each side of the face. 'One of six Qajar or Top helmets, 'Kula- khud'. Late 18th to early 19th century. Bought from Leo. Pratt, Persian armour £10, 1938' (M. Jessup).
